Collocutor to play Gilles Peterson/Patrick Forge’s Another Sunday Afternoon at Dingwalls 31st May2015

We’re very excited to have been asked to play at the next instalment of the legendary Dingwalls jazz dance sessions!

Expect tunes from the Instead album, some unreleased material and a couple of covers of favourite tunes to compliment the mainstay dance-inducing sets from Gilles Peterson and Patrick Forge….

Collaboration on Emanative’s ‘The Light Years of The Darkness’ album for the Steve Reid Foundation

Some time ago, Emanative asked if we would collaborate on a track for an album to raise money  for the Steve Reid Foundation, an organization set up in memory of legendary jazz drummer Steve Reid to offer help to people working in music when going through times of crisis and also to support emerging talent. Of course we said yes!

We chose to record a version of ‘Fire’ from Joe Henderson’s album ‘The Elements’, a particular favourite of both Emanative and Collocutor’s Tamar and a natural choice to fit the album’s expansive spiritual jazz thread (inspired by artists Steve Reid had worked with such as Sun Ra and Miles Davis). The session was hugely enjoyable, particularly as we were also joined by the talents of Finn Peters (flute) and Gemma Williams (harp) alongside the regular members of the Emanative musical family.

And now the album is available to pre-order on bandcamp! The 2xLP limited edition heavyweight vinyl is released on 16th March, so get in there quick. With numerous guest musicians from various backgrounds it’s great music, all for a good cause.
